Sedation Options

Are you one of those people that even the thought of going to the dentist evokes panic and worry? At Dream Dentistry, we want you to feel completely comfortable. We offer several types of sedation to ensure that your dental procedures are as relaxing and painless as possible.

  • Nitrous Oxide

    Dream Dentistry sedation options

Better known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a safe and effective gas used to reduce dental anxiety without the mental or physical impairment that often comes from other forms of sedation. The effects of the nitrous oxide sedation wear off very quickly once the gas mask has been removed. This is the lightest sedation offered at Dream Dentistry.

  • Oral Sedation

For patients with moderate levels of anxiety, we recommend oral sedation. This is administered in the form of a pill taken before your appointment. It is a stronger form of sedation and requires that you are brought to and from your appointment by a trusted adult. The effects last between 12 and 24 hours. Most people report a sluggish or "drugged" feeling throughout the duration of the day.

  • IV Sedation

For those suffering from moderate to severe anxiety, IV sedation is extremely helpful. It is also ideal for people who struggle with staying numb, those with serious gag reflexes, or anyone with a physical or mental limitation. Administered through an IV, patients remain conscious but are unaware of what is happening to and around them. This is the most common form of sedation used in the removal of wisdom teeth. It is the strongest form of sedation offered at Dream Dentistry and also requires that you are brought to and from your appointment by a responsible adult. Although IV sedation has lingering effects for 12 to 24 hours, most patients report that they do not experience a "drugged" feeling.
